Since Hurricane Wilma two years ago, we have gotten to know two families on our street. The kids play out on the street and most Fridays all three of our families get together to share some kind of food and beverage until it gets too dark to see where the kids are riding their bikes. We've gotten to know each other pretty well, and we decided at the beginning of the year to go on a camping trip together. So this past weekend we went to a KOA site next to Lion Country Safari.

It was a special Halloween weekend, and the KOA had all sorts of activities going on throughout the weekend like costume contests (for the kids and the pets), pumpkin carving contests, "haunted" site contests, trick or treating, a pancake breakfast, an ice cream social, and we also got tickets into LCS for 2 days. Needless to say, we had plenty to do and see and we didn't get bored!

The weekend started off rainy. In fact, on our way up to Palm Beach we went through some torrential downpours, but it was only sprinkling when we got there. It was a little soggy that first night as it rained on and off all night. But the weather was tolerable the rest of the weekend. We woke each morning to the roaring of the lions, and the beauty of the campgrounds kept us occupied.

We packed all of our stuff yesterday afternoon and headed home. The kids had a blast and the adults did too. We have already started talking about next year's camping excursion. Maybe we'll make it a yearly outing.
